Value and impact of innovation ecosystems in health technologies

Innovation ecosystems: driving transformation

In both France and Quebec, collaboration between the public sector, universities, start-ups and major companies is fostering research focused on creating cutting-edge medical solutions.

The aim of this conference was to explore from a number of angles the approaches, challenges and issues involved in environments and intermediaries for technological innovation in healthcare, particularly with regard to generating, capturing and exploiting the value generated by innovative environments that foster the development of healthcare technologies and their socio-economic impact.
3 major themes were addressed during the course of the day:
– Approaches and models for integrated management of the innovation continuum in healthcare technologies, and assessment of their socio-economic impact;
– Criteria and key success factors for facilitating the adoption and accelerating the commercialisation of value-based healthcare innovations;
– Health technology innovation ecosystems, yes… but how can they be sustained and what socio-economic impact will they have?

Lyon and Montreal, two pioneering cities in the field of connected healthcare, took a closer look at each other, illustrating the diversity and strength of these ecosystems and demonstrating their essential role as drivers for transforming healthcare, always with the aim of improving patient care and meeting the public health challenges of the future.

Outlook

The added value of innovation ecosystems in healthcare technologies is a promise of future progress. Transatlantic collaboration is a major vector for responding to global health challenges, while offering appropriate local solutions.
